With A Beginner's Mind is a reminder that you can do whatever you set your mind to. As a self-taught designer, I let intuition lead where experience has yet to follow. My path is unconventional, but one thing remains true: you’ll never know unless you try.
I value being hands-on and learning from every angle. My garments are made locally in Los Angeles, so I can stay closely involved in every step of product development. I love working with menswear fabrics like raw denim, French terry, wool, and jersey— textiles that age well over time and grow with you. By being involved in every detail, I'm able to design with intention and document my process. My hope is that this offers an honest, vulnerable perspective on fashion.
At the heart of my brand is human connection. Without it, clothes are just clothes. I aim to share stories that inspire dreams and bring meaning to your life.
My Story
Growing up, pursuing a career in fashion felt more like a day dream than a tangible goal. While I didn't know where to start, I never let that stop me from trying.
Early in my career, rejection and self-doubt flooded my mind. I graduated from college with a degree in Accounting, yet I couldn't shake the dream that maybe a kid from Orange County with zero connections could make it in fashion. After all, most of my teenage years were spent surfing the internet, obsessing over raw denim and streetwear.
Despite countless rejections, I eventually found momentum. From 2011 through 2015, my goal was simple: break into the fashion industry. I went from one unpaid internship to the next, all in the hopes of working for my favorite designer John Elliott.
In 2015, opportunity met preparation and I got my chance. After being laid off from my first full-time job, I reached out to John Elliott seeking internship opportunity. With blind faith, confidence, and admittedly some luck, I pitched to intern at the company full-time for 90 days to showcase my interest and potential. After a 3 months of commuting from Orange County to Los Angeles, my hard work paid off and I received my dream job offer that changed my life. I immediately moved to LA and worked with the team full-time. After an unforgettable 5 year ride at John Elliott, I moved on to a new career journey while also starting to build With A Beginner’s Mind.
This brand is my medium to share my story through clothing. My hope is that when you see my work and read my thoughts, you're inspired to seek gratitude, practice mindfulness, and embrace a learning mindset.
